Change your pillowcase

When your pillowcase is not washed frequently, it can accumulate a build-up of oils, bacteria and dirt which come from your own skin and hair, this is breeding ground for breakouts! Ensure you are washing your pillowcase 1-2x per week to reduce breakouts.

Cleanse your skin morning and night

Having a daily skincare routine is key when it comes to reducing breakouts, ensure you are cleansing and treating your skin twice a day to remove dirt, makeup, oils, sweat and to ensure the skin stays breakout free.

Skip makeup when you’re working out and wash your face post workout

Before hitting the gym, ensure your skin is completely makeup free to minimise breakouts. Sweat releases through pores in the skin, when makeup covers the pores this causes a barrier, trapping sweat and clogging pores. Ensure you wash your face with an exfoliating cleanser straight after working out to ensure sweat does not sit on the surface of the skin for a prolonged period of time.

Don’t over-exfoliate

Scrubbing your face on a daily basis with a gritty cleanser isn’t getting rid of dirt, its causing inflammation, irritation and redness flare ups. Exfoliating a pimple will cause the top of the pimple to pull away healthy skin cells, giving you a higher risk of scarring. Opt for a daily cleanser that contain salicylic acid to gently unplug follicles and prevent breakouts.

Drink plenty of water

Increasing water intake can help keep skin clear as well as flush out toxins, carry nutrients through the body and improve circulation. Hydrated skin is less prone to breakouts and tends to be neither too oily nor too dry.
